The Tri-City Dust Devils fell one win short of winning the first Northwest League championship in franchise history, losing the deciding game of the NWL Championship Series at Vancouver Sunday afternoon. Despite the loss, the 2011 season will undoubtedly be regarded as the most successful in the team's 11-year history.
The Tri-City Dust Devils set two team records in their final regular season game, but neither was accomplished on the field. They were set in the stands. The Dust Devils broke the team record for single game attendance, drawing a crowd of 3,811, who watched Tri-City beat the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, 3-1.
Jared Simon lined a two-run home run over the left field fence in the bottom of the seventh to give the Tri-City Dust Devils the final runs they would need in a 3-1 victory over the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes.
